Ngatarawa Wines is located in the Hawkes Bay, the oldest established wine growing region in New Zealand.
Hawkes Bay vineyards are planted on a range of soil types, varying from deep, free draining gravel to heavier silts and loams. This has enabled the successful development of all of the classical varieties to a very high quality.

The growing season is warm, generally low in humidity, with continued heat right through April, ideal for the late maturing red grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon. Hawkes Bay has one of the highest totals of sunshine hours in New Zealand.

Ngatarawa Wines draws grapes from its 16 hectares of estate vineyards and from selected growers who work closely with us at the winery. The main varieties grown are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
The winery at Ngatarawa Wines is one of the most picturesque in New Zealand.

It is located in the historic Ngatarawa racing Stables. Refurbished when the winery was first established, it provides a warm, friendly welcome to all visitors. The winery is open to the public 7 days a week from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm all year, except for Christmas Day!
