When the Raj Mahal first opened in 1993 it was a revelation. Until that time Indian Restaurants in this country served a shorthand approximation of Indian cooking that could be best described as "British-Indian" cooking. We at the Raj Mahal thought this wasn't good enough.
We had the radical idea of presenting real Indian food as it is eaten in India and we wanted our guests to be served in stylish, classical surroundings. We diversified our menu so that it now offers both contemporary and real classic Indian cuisine.
