Owl Anchorage Gardens and Museum are on two acres, 17 theme feature gardens, a museum and a large bird aviary is open to the public. We bought the land in year 2000 and have evolved gardens to suit our lifestyle.
A drawbridge over a pond and waterfall at the front entrance of our home, the rose garden with arch and cast iron bath seat make a wonderful resting spot to view the flagpole and cannon.
The cottage garden leads you to large fish and turtle ponds, waterfalls cascading down to the water lilies. Feed the fish and they will follow you to discover the pergola with blue and white wisteria; look through the round garden window to view the landscape of rural bliss, the cows grazing and the Pacific Ocean in the background; the west window looks down on the lush farmland.
From under the bougainvillea you enter the grass path of the Oriental garden with yet another water feature. Our small vegetable garden helps to supplement the table. There are succulents in a dessert scenic stile. The native ferns and trees shelter an old railway shed that once housed the rail gangs for their billy tea. It now houses an old vintage car.
Each season there is something different to see. The museum is full of memorabilia; we like to show people and listen to their recollections. Have a photo in period costume in a vintage car.
