Winemakers Note:
The 2003 Riesling was harvested after a warm, dry summer and autumn, where the fruit was very clean and ripe.
The Seifried Riesling is a blend of fruit from our Redwood Valley, and new Brightwater vineyard. The two portions were harvested, pressed and cool fermented separately before blending in late June.
The fermentation of the Brightwater portion was stopped prematurely leaving a little sweetness by cooling the wine to +2 degrees and by filtration. This was then blended with the Redwood Valley portion (which was fermented to dryness), giving the wine a medium residual sugar.
Tasting Note:
Deliciously perfumed and aromatic with deep apricot and citrus flavours. It is gently honeyed, has a touch of sweetness and a lively, long finish.
