01 Vintage: An extremely dry season (lowest rainfall on record) allowed for the grapes to be picked at optimum ripeness, and perfectly clean.
Vineyard: Situated on the famous Martinborough Terrace, rows are set out North/South facing with a gentle north facing slope giving a perfect viticultural aspect. All grapes are Estate grown on Scott Henry and VSP canopies, with irrigation on free draining alluvial soils.
Winemaking: A gravity flow winery allows for gentle handling through all the traditional winemaking methods. Fermented in small open top fermenters, hand plunged then aged in French Oak Barriques for 11 months.
Winemakers Comments: A long dry growing season achieved a wine with lifted aromas of violets, cherries and spices, an elegant subtle palate is supported with fine tannins. Cellar 1-7 years.
