Zeno is made from a selection of the best syrah from each vintage, the remaining going into Oneroa Bay. 2001 was a difficult year in New Zealand although we are extremely happy with the results of our Waiheke Syrah.
Our fifth vintgage was hand picked and is bright purple/red in colour, with a strong black pepper, smoky nose. Zeno shows good ripeness with plum and cherry fruit along with varietal spiciness.
Balanced with one years maturation in French oak, the wine is immediately attractive with or without food. It is also a great cellar prospect. The oldest Waiheke syrah we have ever drunk is five years old, but still going strong.
