> Review this wine
Low crops, combined with a very warm summer lead to early maturation of the grapes so we harvested earlier than usual in order to retain good natural acidity. This has emphasised the citrus end of the fruit spectrum with lemon, lime and grapefruit elements intermingling with ripe apple flavours.
Spiciness, which can be a feature of Waipara rieslings is less evident in this wine, but it has a zesty core of minerality, which draws out the palate. The finish is tangy and off-dry. With age, it should develop honeyed elements with marmalade-like complexities.
