Winemakers notes
This Merlot predominant wine was fermented for a short time "on skins." Only colour and some sweet tannins were extracted. After this the wine fermented to dryness in the barrel. The result is an elegant, easy drinking wine with sweet fruit characters. A small part remained on yeast lees to add complexity and some sweet yeasty notes. Some new oak and mainly one and two year old barrels add subtle oak influences without distracting from the fruit character.
Aroma
Fresh and lively red fruits with dominant plum and raspberry notes. Subtle mint and oak influences.
Palate
A velvety soft palate with sweet raspberry and plum characters. This is a well balanced and lightweight red with fine subtle tannins and a hint of oak.
Food
To drink with summer salads, pasta and lunchtime dishes.
Cellaring
This wine was produced for early summer drinking. It may be cellared for several years but is attractive as a young wine.
