Winemakers notes
The grapes for this wine were harvested from small blocks of different clones of Chardonnay. Fermented separately, each of these batches developed its own identity. The use of different yeasts, fermentation temperatures and the choice of malo-lactic fermentation contributed to an array of flavour components. 20% was barrel fermented, adding a fine oak influence to the blend. The result is a well balanced, fruity Chardonnay with lots of interest.
Aroma
Hints of quince, melon, grapefruit and papaya make up the aroma spectrum of this lightly oaked Chardonnay.
Palate
An array of tropical fruits, stonefruit and grapefruit describes the flavours of this wine. Integrated layers of fruit, yeasty character and light oak, give it the complexity and structure to be enjoyed young or after some years of cellaring.
Food
Enjoy with quiches, seafood or poultry.
Cellaring
This Chardonnay makes great summer drinking as a young wine. With age it will develop some more rounded, butterscotch characters and weight. Drink now or cellar up to 2005.
