Overview:
A medium-bodied yet rich chardonnay displaying restrained oak and fine fruit. The bouquet is rich with a nutty mealyness; citrus fruit is also in evidence. The palate is soft and full with melon, peach, citrus and well integrated oak. A touch of acid adds focus and length.
Grapes:
100% Chardonnay
Region:
Hawke`s Bay
Winemaker:
Adam Hazeldine
Recommended Food:
Ideal "food" wine. Try it with an eggplant souffl or prawn paella.
Recommended Cellaring:
4-5 years
Production Notes:
Fruit was harvested by hand and barrel fermented in a combination of French and American oak barriques. The wine was aged for a further 10 months in barrel with frequent stirring of the yeast lees.
Reviews:
"This is more accessible than The Patriarch, with less intense pineapple/citrus fruit flavours but similar subtle oak and yeast lees influence. The result, a soft, round and stylish Chardonnay."
