Sauvignon Blanc has, without doubt, put New Zealand firmly on the world wine stage. Export sales and demand easily eclipse all other wines produced here. And it's no wonder. There can be nothing as evocative of our grassy paddocks, pristine mountains, stony river-beds or clear, sharp light as its piercing purity and unique intensity of aromatics. Essence of clean, green, New Zealand - concentrated and captured in a bottle. Nowhere else can match it.
Ata Rangi Sauvignon Blanc 2003 has all the trademark virtues of the international success story. A rush of exuberant fruit - guava, melons, yellow capsicum, with passionfruit lingering on the finish. It's crisp and racy, with palate weight enhanced by a few months of barrel time and warmer ferments for around 15% of the blend.
