Tasting Note
Vintage sparkling wines rely on very high fruit quality and extended ageing on yeast lees in the bottle as essential parts of their make-up. The 1997 vintage of our Black Label Mthode Traditionnelle is a Pinot-dominant blend where the high percentage of Pinot has added texture and length of flavour, along with a lovely golden colour to the wine. The Chardonnay also used in this wine imparts its element of finesse.
Five years ageing on lees in the bottle has imparted a delightful yeasty complexity to this wine that complements the delicate, underlying fruit characters. The fine, persistent bead lifts the wines aromatic qualities and provides the senses with a memorable experience.
Made for serious consideration this wine is the ideal accompaniment to any celebration or as an enjoyable aperitif.
