2002 Pinot Gris 2002

2002 Pinot Gris

                       2002

> Review this wine

This wine displays ripe pear, stonefruit and beeswax characters with complex spice and mealy tones. The mouthfeel is rich in texture with fine balance and length. Enjoyable early, our Pinot Gris will develop further interest and complexity for those wishing to cellar it.

Vineyard
Martinborough Vineyard have a very small production of Pinot Gris. The grapes are sourced from vines up to 10 years of age from the McCreanor vineyard on the Martinborough Terrace, and the St Francis vineyard in Central Wairarapa.
The vines are intensively tended by hand with much care taken to provide balance and achieve the best favour and acid balance.

Winemaking
The fruit is hand sorted, hand harvested and gently whole-bunch pressed for finesse. A portion is barrel fermented with indigenous yeasts in old French oak to give richness and complexity, and a portion is fermented cooler in stainless steel for focus and fruit characters.

The resulting blend has complex layers in a drier style and eminently suited to food. The wine is estate bottled.

13.5% alcohol
