Hand harvested from the two estate vineyards, the fruit is cold soaked and fermented in small batches. At the completion of primary fermentation the wine completes malolactic fermentation in tight-grained French oak and matures for 10 months before final assemblage and bottling.
"This 2001 Pinot Noir is sourced exclusively from twelve year old vines on the "Home Block" Vineyard in Rapaura, Marlborough.
Dominating the aromatics is a characteristic spiciness which is a feature of this vineyard.
The palate is generous and very supple yet with sufficient spine to encourage medium term cellaring."
